As rainfall began to decrease in the Southwest about the middle of the twelfth century, most of the Monument Valley Anasazi abandoned their homes to join other clans whose access to water was less limited.
(A) whose access to water was less limited
(B) where there was access to water that was less limited
(C) where they had less limited water access
(D) with less limitations on water access
(E) having less limitations to water access
选项分析：
(A)whose access to water was less limited
【正确】 “clans(部族)”被“access”引导的定语从句修饰，“less limited”表意上不存在(C)中的歧义。
【大意】 当20世纪中叶西南地区的降水减少时，多数的纪念碑谷Anasazi人抛弃了他们的家园去加入其他用水更不受限的部族。
(B)where there was access to water that was less limited
【错误】 简洁明了：GMAT所考察的标准书面英语中，“there be”、“that/which/who be”结构不具有简洁性。“there was(从前有个)”和定语从句“that was……”使得本选项简洁性逊于(A)。
