之前我为大家讲解了如何用窍门和技巧解决GMAT阅读题中最头疼的细节题。今天我们就来进一步讲解另一种题型：假设题。
我们用具体的例子说话，先来看题目：
Which of the following is an assumption underlying the last sentence of the passage?
(A) In each of the years between 1970 and 1979, the Earth took exactly 19 hours to cross the Geminid meteor stream.
(B) The comet associated with the Geminid meteor stream has totally disintegrated.
(C) The Geminid meteor stream should continue to exist for at least 5,000 years.
(D) The Geminid meteor stream has not broadened as rapidly as the conventional theories would have predicted.
(E) The computer-model Geminid meteor stream provides an accurate representation of the development of the actual Geminid stream.”
首先我们来确定问题的类型。很显然这是assumption。这种类型的题目和一般的阅读题不一样，问题问起来有点别扭，答起来也可能很麻烦吗？和CR中的assumption题目是一样的吗？
一般来说，大家可以先用别的类型的阅读题目的解题方法来做假设题，然后假设部分不变。
然后，找到文中的proof证据。重新读一些相关的文章内容，然后试着组织自己的答案。
相关的文章段落，我做了一个summary：The Geminid data between 1970 and 1979 show just such a bifurcation, a secondary burst of meteor activity being clearly visible at an average of 19 hours (1,200,000 miles) after the first burst. The time intervals between the bursts suggest the actual Geminid stream is about 3,000 years old.
然后随着文章深入的读下去，我发现第三句有一个很明确的信息，可见第三句话是一个总结句。问题就是类似于CR的argument形式。注意！那么这里就可以出现假设的部分了！
What is the author assuming when drawing her conclusion?
我们看原文：“… the actual stream is about 3,000 years old.”
这个结论并没有给出这个stream的年龄，那么actual这个词的意义在哪儿呢？前文提到了一个时间段5000年。这又是在说什么呢？
然后我们再回去看一下第二段，如果说stream 有五千年，then，地球为了pass through the stream，就应该超过一点时间。但是第三段有说平均时间是19小时。如果这种形制是正确的，那么stream就不是5000年大了，所以我们的作者就给出了结论，说stream是3千年的年龄。
所以，这里作者使用了这样的形制来做出总结，也就是说she is assuming that the modell is accurate.
